What is a TLS/SSL Certificate?
TLS (Transport Layer Security) and SSL (Secure Socket Layer) are cryptographic protocols that encrypt and authenticate data traveling from the client (i.e. your device that is requesting a website) to a server.
TLS/SSL Certificates are used to secure communications between a website, host or server, and end users that are connecting to that server.
A TLS/SSL Certificate confirms the identity of the domain name (e.g. SelectSynthetics) that is operating the web site, encrypts all information between the server and the visitor and ensures the integrity of the transmitted information.
Look for a "closed padlock" and "https" (the 's' is for secure) in the address bar.
